Spaniard Nuri Iturrios mastered the extremely testing conditions at Bonville Golf Resort in today's second round of the Australian Ladies Classic, shooting a flawless 5-under par 67 to take a four-shot lead into the final 36- holes.

The 23-year-old started her second round in the worst of this morning's horrendous conditions, with heavy rain falling consistently for around 90 minutes. Most Spanish golfers are known for their dislike of playing in the wind and rain but Iturrios flourished in the conditions, making 5 birdies and 13 pars to add to her 3 under 69 yesterday, her second straight day without a bogey on her scorecard. Iturrios's round of 67 was one of only four under par rounds at Bonville Golf Resort on Friday morning, the other three being rounds of one-under par 71.

Iturrios, who hails from the Island of Mallorca in the Mediterranean Sea, was clearly delighted to be back in the hunt for a professional tournament win. "I hit a lot of really good shots, 36-holes with no bogeys is great! I am so comfortable with my game right now, a am really excited for the weekend with 36 holes to go."

Iturrios, previously a renowned high ball hitter, said she had worked hard in the offseason, changing her swing to get a lower ball flight which clearly paid dividends in the blustery conditions.

Overnight leader, Sydney amateur Doey Choi had a mixed bag today, combining 4 birdies with 3 bogeys and a double-bogey at the 17th hole to shoot a 2-over par round of 74 and sits in outright second place.

Australian star Hannah Green is still well within striking distance heading into the weekend sitting alone in 3rd place at 3 under par.

The 36-hole cut to 60 professional players plus ties came at +7, play will get underway tomorrow morning at 7:20am from the 1st and 9th tees with the final group teeing off the first hole at 9:20am
