Bristow victorious at the Mulpha Norwest ALPG Pro-am
Date: 19th January 2016

New Zealander Cathryn Bristow held off a strong International challenge to take out the 2016 Mulpha Norwest ALPG Pro-am today at Castle Hill Country Club.

In a field that included former world number one Dame Laura Davies and players from seventeen different countries, the 31-year-old from Auckland shot an impressive 7 under par round of 67, to edge out local favourite Lauren Hibbert by one shot, while Dutchwoman Anne Van Dam and recent Moss Vale ALPG Classic winner Miriam Nagl were a further shot back at 5 under par.

Bristow, whose one ALPG victory prior to today came at the Moss Vale ALPG Classic in 2012, credited her coach Aaron Cole for her victory today. “I had been struggling a little and had an emergency Skype session with Aaron from Jakarta last night at 11pm. He told me just to keep believing in what we have been working on and today I just went out and trusted it and it all fell into place. I also want to pay thanks to my family, they have been amazing and I wouldn’t be here without their support”

Bristow was runner up to Stacey Keating at the Anita Boon Pro-am in her home city of Auckland back in November after a frustrating 2015 season suffering with a chronic neck injury. She was forced to sit out much of the 2014/15 ALPG Tour season and after a period away from the game spent resting and rehabilitating before making a welcome return to form in the second half of the season.

A fit and healthy Cathryn Bristow has the talent to contend anywhere she plays and there is no doubt that she will be looking forward to the major events on the ALPG schedule starting at the Oates Victorian Open in two week’s time,

The 2015/16 ALPG Tour Club Car Series heads up the M2 to Pennant Hills Golf club where the ALPG members and our international visitors will compete in the Goldkey Financial Ladies Pro-am over 36 holes on Thursday and Friday.
