The 44-year-old will lead a team of nine players in the event, which will once again be contested between four of the world's leading women's golf tours: the LPGA of Japan, Korean LPGA, the Ladies European Tour (LET) and ALPG.

"I'm excited and honoured to lead a wonderful group of our leading ALPG golfers in the upcoming Queens Cup." said Hetherington. "The opportunity to work with such an inspiring group of women is a highlight of my career and I look forward to returning to Japan and enjoying the wonderful camaraderie and Japanese hospitality"

ALPG CEO Karen Lunn said: "The ALPG is delighted that one of the legends of Australian golf has accepted the role to captain our team at The Queens presented by Kowa. Rachel is always looking for opportunities to give back to our game, with her vast experience and a hugely successful LPGA career behind her (which includes 8 LPGA victories, 3 of which were play-off victories against the great Annika Sorenstam) Rachel will no doubt be a great mentor and leader for our team and a wonderful ambassador for ALPG"

"The Queens presented by Kowa is a unique event with an innovative format and is sure to attract the attention of golf fans across the globe. The ALPG is once again proud to be involved in this prestigious tournament and we are looking forward to once again being a part of a major international match-play competition with the other three tours."

The three-day event features 32 matches, with eight foursomes matches on day one, eight four ball matches on day two and 16 singles matches on day three.

For the first two days, all four teams will play each other. After the first two days, the top two teams will play each other in eight singles matches for first and second position while the third and fourth placed teams will play each other to determine third position overall in the event.

Players are selected from the ALPG Order of Merit and the Rolex Women's World Rankings. The  ALPG team will be announced on 24th October.
