22 year old English rookie Holly Clyburn has fired rounds of 71,69, 71 for an 8 under par total to claim her first victory on the Ladies European Tour, holding off compatriot and new Order of Merit leader, Charley Hull.

Playing in just her fourth LET event, the former winning Curtis Cup team member began the final round one shot behind the leaders but, in difficult conditions, recorded three birdies against one bogey to eventually cruise to a three shot victory.

Hull, also came from behind, notching the day’s low round of 4 under par 69, to sit outright second, one ahead of veteran Swede, Carin Koch with Australian Bree Arthur, Spain’s Carlotta Ciganda and overnight leader Camilla Lennarth, tied for 4th a further shot back.

For Arthur, the tied 4th result equals her best result (2012 Unicredit Ladies German Open) since joining the LET in 2011.

Clyburn, who won an LET Access Series tournament soon after turning professional in October last year said she used her links experience to conquer three rounds of cold and windy conditions.

“I’m flabbergasted. I played great golf all week pretty much. I just relaxed, didn’t get nervous all day and kept in my own little bubble. It proves that I can win, makes me believe in myself and makes me think that I can go on to win bigger things.”

For Hull this was her fourth runner-up finish in as many starts. She rocketed up the leaderboard with seven birdies in the first eleven holes and, despite three bogies coming in, held second position for the remainder of the round.

The other nine Australians in the field enjoyed a solid week. Stacey Keating (T10); Nikki Campbell (T14); Karen Lunn and Kristie Smith (T24); Whitney Hillier (T29); Rebecca Artis (T35); Nikki Garrett (T53) and Sarah King (67th).

The Tour now moves to Munich for next week’s UniCredit Ladies German Open presented by Audi, starting on Thursday at Golfpark Gut Häusern.
