New South Wales Rebecca Artis and Victorian Stacey Keating will be leading the large Australian contingent teeing it up in this week’s the final stage of the LPGA Qualifying School.

10 Australians will be trying to secure a place on the LPGA tour in 2014. Artis and Keating are joined in the field by fellow compatriots Breanna Elliott, Frances Bondad, Julia Boland, Emma de Groot, Stephanie Na, Corie Hou, Kristie Smith and Inhong Lim.

The final stage is being played over 90 holes at the LPGA International Golf Course, Champions and Legends courses in Daytona Beach Florida from 4 to 8 December.

For Artis it is her first attempt at trying to qualify for the LPGA tour, she was exempt from Stage I but progressed through to the final stage when she finished tied 28th at Stage II in early October.

When asked about her expectations this week, the talented player, replied “I am trying to treat it as I would any other tournament. It definitely helps take the pressure off knowing that I have my full exemption in Europe after my win this year.”

Artis has played one of the two courses prior to this week, “I have played one of the two courses previously in a Symetra tour event four years ago when I first turned pro. I haven’t played the other yet, but I’m playing both courses over the next three days leading into the first round on Wednesday (US time).

The 25 year old, who recorded her maiden LET career victory in September, has had a solid year and she is happy with how this year has gone.

“I started the year with some solid performances during the Aussie summer, including a top 20 in the NZ Women’s Open and the Women’s Aussie Open and a top 10 finish in the Vic Open. I then went onto have a very solid back end to my season, with 1 top 20, four top 10, including my first win in Sweden! So my form has been pretty solid throughout the year.”

153 players will be vying for approximately 20 full LPGA and 25 partial cards. Notables in the field include American Cheyenne Woods, South African Lee-Anne Pace, Canadian Lorie Kane, former LPGA tour winners Seon Hwa Lee and Birdie Kim.
